Michael Mastrantuono
Executive Chef
Not everyone can handle the pressure and intensity of a high-end kitchen, but for Michael Mastrantuono, it is where he thrives. Born into the industry, Michael began his culinary education early, running and cooking in his family’s restaurants before he could even drive. This immersion sparked a passion that quickly outpaced his peers. By age 20, he had already secured his first head chef position. He went on to lead kitchens at Milestone, MezzaNotte, and Roux, building a reputation as a prodigy in the Capital Region’s culinary scene.
Taking the helm at 15 Church at just 27 years old, Chef Michael has evolved from a rising star, recognized in FSR Magazine’s “40 Under 40,” into one of the region’s most respected culinary leaders. Under his direction, 15 Church has maintained its status as a premier dining destination, earning a prestigious 4-star review from the Times Union.
“I not only respect my craft but also respect the food. What it eats, where it’s grown, and what it’s grown in.”
Today, Chef Michael’s influence extends beyond the main dining room to The Patio at 15 Church, where he oversees a distinct concept focusing on coastal New England fare and an extensive raw bar. With over seven years leading the 15 Church team, Mastrantuono continues to push boundaries, focusing on seasonality, sourcing, and creating unforgettable experiences for every guest.
